Innocent put all he had at the service of His country

With heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss, the Society of Igbo Professionals (SIP) regrets to inform its membership of the transition of our esteemed member, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma on Friday, April 2nd, 2021 after a brief illness.

A dear friend and respected colleague to many, the outpouring of love seen across the world is a testament to the man we all knew. Innocent put all he had at the service of this country from undergraduate days till his passing. He never quit. Never stopped to question its toll. Never allowed fences, walls or moats to separate him from the world he was determined to leave a better place. He never hesitated to step up to the frontline, or to follow anyone who stepped up to lead.

An incisive mind, a winning personality and uncompromisingly humble, his network reaches across the globe to anyone to who heard, spoke with him, worked with him as he walked the path of reform and change. Innocent was at home with the streets as he was with the corridors of corporate and power. A tested, dedicated change agent, he had a clarity of purpose that was almost a halo around his person. One could walk past him in a crowd assembled to hear him and still find him seeking you out without guile or airs, lending guidance and quiet assurance without reservation.
He will be missed by the SIP community.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to the beautiful family he leaves behind as we await the announcement of obsequies. May his magnificent soul rest in peace. Amen.
